Nuclear Astrophysics

Nuclear Astrophysics addresses the role of nuclear physics in our universe. Nuclear structure and reactions critically influence the isotopic abundance pattern observed in our universe, galaxy and solar system but also provide important input for understanding neutron stars. The group at FSU tackles the open questions theoretically and experimentally. Experiments to calibrate the nuclear reactions relevant for astrophysical processes are performed at the John D. Fox Laboratory and at different national laboratories.
